It was around the corner. A wall just to pass by. "Accidentally" I looked in the right direction. And was shocked.....

It emphasizes the MotherGoddess with Her countless Son/Lovers. The Mother remains the same, the many Gods come and go. This was the main cause for men to step out of the "death and resurrection" cycle and start their search for immortality. It resulted in the "one God" who is obsessed with keeping his position at all costs....

Goddess, Nymph, Grace....Wise Woman

Green Man with Phrygian cap

Green Men of this epoch can be recognized by the foliate guirlandes they have around their face

A Sun God (Apollo?)

Woman with crown

Again a Wise Woman

What is a Green Man?
A Vegetation God
How does he look like?
Vaying from a beast, a man-beast, a Divine child in nature to an Eros with foliate feet, leaves surrounding  e.g. coming out of his head, decorated with guirlandes to the foliate masks we see in our medieval churches. His appearence is changeable according to the situation. That's why he was later called "a trickster". Identifying him with one particular type of face is a demonstration of ignorance!
"When a man was still a man......."
A spiritualized "modern" Green Man still symbolizes "Divine Immanence". However, his Essence is "death and rebirth" of his ego

Again, a Sun God with guirlande. It means that Light and vegetation are not contradictory. On the contrary this picture emphasizes Divine Immanence....God in nature
